PROCEDURE FOR NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT PROCESSING
The National Letter of Intent and Offer of Athletics Grant-in-Aid
signing begins with following the Standard Operating Procedure for
completion of a National Letter of Intent and Offer of Grant-in-Aid.
Once the NLI and GIA are signed by the prospect, they are returned to
the Compliance Office and logged onto the log sheet as "Signed and
Returned". The coach keeps a photocopy of the NLI and the Gold Copy of
the GIA. Compliance then forwards the Yellow Copy of the GIA to the
Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and uses the Pink Copy attached
to a photocopy of the NLI to begin the "Student-Athlete File". The
Compliance Office types a letter to the ACC requesting consideration for
the conference to file the NLI. The original of the NLI, a photocopy of
the GIA, and the request letter are then forwarded to the ACC office in
Greensboro via a trackable form of mailing (Certified USPS, UPS, FedEx,
etc.). Unless otherwise contacted, the Letters are then filed with the
conference office. After they are filed with the ACC office, and once
the tuition rates are set for the corresponding school year, an Athletic
Scholarship Authorization (ASA) is created and sent to the coach to be
reviewed and forwarded per ASA instructions.
