Athletics Department Staff Responsibilities

Jim Weaver, Director of Athletics
  • Grants final approval for all institutional policies and procedures regarding camps/clinics.

Supervising Associate AD
  • Grants final approval for camps/clinics.
  • Approves the compensation structure for high-school, prep-school, and two-year-college coaches serving as camp/clinic employees.
  • Approves the proposed camp/clinic budget and reviews insurance documentation.

    Sharon McCloskey: women's basketball, football, lacrosse, women's soccer, and softball.

    Tom Gabbard: men's basketball, cross country, golf, and track & field.

    Jon Jaudon: baseball, men's soccer, swimming & diving, volleyball, and wrestling.

    Randy Butt: men's and women's tennis.

Tim Parker, Assistant AD for Compliance
  • Implements educational and procedural efforts to reduce the risk of potential NCAA violations involved with the conduct and administration of camps/clinics.
  • Coordinates development of the Virginia Tech Camps & Clinics Manual.

Bert Locklin, Assistant Director of Compliance
  • Monitors compliance with NCAA recruiting and extra benefit regulations.
  • Reviews and approves all printed materials and advertising related to camps/clinics.
  • As the Athletics Director's designee, grants prior approval for the employment of Virginia Tech student-athletes in camps/clinics per NCAA Bylaw 13.13.2.1.2.

Lisa Rudd, Business Manager
  • Develops and implements procedures for monitoring the financial administration of camps/clinics.
  • Reviews budgets and financial reports associated with camps/clinics.
  • Conducts periodic audits of camp/clinic financial statements.
